My internship journey: From Paris to Stockholm with Lovelu
Bonjour! I’m Maxime, a 23-year-old event planning enthusiast from Paris, France. My journey to Stockholm started with a love for organization that’s been with me for as long as I can remember. From childhood birthdays to scout events, I’ve always found joy in the behind-the-scenes magic, organizing, planning, and making sure every detail is just right.

This passion, along with my dream of starting my own event planning business, led me to pursue an internship abroad as part of my studies at EMLyon Business School. A six-month adventure with Lovelu in Stockholm turned out to be the perfect match, the chance to dive into wedding planning in Scandinavia while soaking up a brand new culture.
Why Stockholm?
I’ve always been drawn to the Nordic countries — their landscapes, culture, and that signature calm, elevated lifestyle. So when it came time to choose an internship, I wanted to mix real work with real exploration. After reaching out to wedding planners across Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki, I received a reply from Louise at Lovelu. From our very first call, I could feel it: this would be a place to grow, learn, and truly contribute to a vibrant, creative business.
Life at Lovelu
What’s it like to work at Lovelu? Let’s just say: no two days were ever the same!
A typical day in the office:
Mornings kicked off at 9 a.m. with a fresh coffee and a quick sync with Louise to align on the day’s priorities.
Afternoons were where the creativity flowed: designing content, editing, blog writing, managing social media, and helping plan unforgettable events.
On-the-go adventures:
Wedding planning is far from a desk job. I loved the days spent out and about: visiting venues, attending fairs, prepping for styled shoots. The energy was contagious.
Highlights of my internship
Diverse Projects: In a small and dynamic team like Lovelu, I got to experience every angle of the business. From co-creating a wedding design to building spreadsheets, and even supporting the launch of the Wedding Organizer, I gained hands-on experience I’ll carry with me for years.
Memorable Moments: My very first week? Unforgettable. Picture this: a 72-hour castle wedding project — the ultimate icebreaker. That experience helped me connect instantly with the team and set the tone for an inspiring internship. Oh, and I can’t not mention our Gatsby-themed party... iconic.
Personal Growth: One of my biggest takeaways? The power of staying organized. My not-so-secret weapon: the color-coded to-do list — always ready, always clear, always satisfying to tick off.
Life in Stockholm
Outside of work, I fell head over heels for this beautiful city. From sunrise runs to weekend escapes, I soaked up every moment of Scandinavian life.
Some favorite spots:
Stora Bageriet: Hands down, the best kanelbullar (cinnamon buns) in town.
The International Bar: A Thursday night tradition with friends.
I also loved exploring neighboring capitals—Oslo, Tallinn, and Helsinki—and even managed to run the Stockholm half-marathon!
Looking ahead

This internship confirmed my love for event planning and gave me the confidence to explore new horizons. Next up, I’m diving into corporate event planning in the sports world—another passion of mine. While it’s a shift from weddings, I’m excited to learn about managing large-scale events with big budgets and intricate logistics.
A parting note
As I prepare to leave Stockholm, I know I’ll deeply miss Louise, my friends here, the freedom of this experience, and, of course, the kanelbullar. My time with Lovelu has been transformative, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to such an inspiring business.
To anyone considering an internship abroad: Do it!
You’ll grow, stretch, and collect memories and skills that will stay with you forever.
Merci Stockholm for an incredible six months. Till next time!
